3 cups sugar

1 cup butter

1/3 cup Crisco

5 large eggs

3 1/3 cup cake flour

1 tsp salt

1 cup milk

1 tsp vanilla

½ tsp baking powder – add last

 

-Cream sugar, butter and Crisco well.

-Add one egg at a time – beat well.

-Add flour, milk and vanilla all at once.

-Beat well

-Add baking powder last.

Pound cake ready to bake

Grease and flour a large tube pan.

Bake 325 degrees for 1 hour 20 minutes.

Let stand 10-15 minutes in pan before removing.

Pound cake served with fruit and whip cream

 

A great treat to make when you have left over pound cake is trifle. Instead of sponge cake, you can use pound cake.

Layer fruit, pound cake, and whip cream in layers, scoop and enjoy!
