Life Happens. Sometimes you just have to write about it.

A little short story…

On Monday morning while we were in the midst of our get-ready-for-school routine, Blu announced that she couldn’t “find her school shoes … ANYWHERE.” (Her school shoes are super special, close-toed, sparkle sneakers, that we had to order because they are extra wide and don’t squish her feet – she has her daddy’s feet).

She recruited me for help.

I scoured the house. I looked under all the beds, I moved furniture, checked the laundry bin, I looked in the dog crate, I walked around the backyard, and went through playroom bins. We weren’t missing just one, they were together somewhere and GONE.

Then, after my own assessment determined I had eliminated all options, I called Grandma. We were at her house Sunday for an impromptu Living-Room-Feng-Shui-session and I thought there was a possibility we left them there. Because our dog was at doggie day care, Vijay and Blu left Grandma and Grandpa’s house early to go pick her up. I didn’t leave until later with the other two kids. So, I didn’t see what Blu had (or didn’t have) on her feet.

“I definitely left them at Grandma’s house Mommy!” Blu tells me.

My mom then spent her time searching under her couches, and beds and moving around random furniture. Finally telling me, “I can’t find them anywhere.”

So I text Vijay. “Did you bring Blu’s shoes in from the car last night?”

“They might be (in) our room,” he responds.

I keep looking…

“They are definitely in daddy’s car Mommy!” Blue assures me.

We are down to the wire. Time almost up. We are going to need to begin our  day and she is going to have to wear a less comfortable option to school. I open the closet door in the girls room. Under a heap of Isabella’s shoes, IN THE SHOE BIN, Blu’s shoes wait – EXACTLY WHERE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE.

“Well look at this!” I say. “Blu, they are exactly where they are supposed to be.”

And just like that, it was as if my mother and I had spent 30 minutes crawling around our homes on our hands and knees for absolutely no reason at all.
