We just returned from a trip to Australia to see family and friends. I loved the vocabulary (nappies are diapers, chips are fries, biscuits are cookies), the public transportation system, the seriously amazing play grounds, the family toilets, mothers nursing freely in public, visiting with family and catching up with friends. Traveling with little ones is always a challenge though, whether you have one or three. Here are a few ideas […] Read More

Saying good-bye is never easy and it certainly is never fair. When it was time to put our second cat down, I noticed how seriously my veterinarian was taking part in my loss. Gizmo was a sweet old guy and just ran out of steam. He had a great cat life — licking his paws, sleeping on our comforter, and cuddling with his cat siblings. It was his time. […] Read More

This salad is so good! You can make most of it the day before to help with prep time. I make it all the time for parties. This recipe will make two large bowls of salad, serving about 40 people. If you are having a smaller get together, cut ingredients in half. 2 10-ounce clamshell of mixed greens (I like to use one clamshell of each Spring Mix and Spinach) 1 bunch of green onion […] Read More

A little snippet from last year I’d like to share: I asked my daughter to write down our grocery store list. She wrote down everything I said, drew a happy face and handed me the list. I looked at it and read the list out loud nodding at each item. Me: “milk – okay good, crooosant – good, medeecin – good, zip lok baggss – good, bnanananass – okay, got it, […] Read More

I grew up in a Southern California beach town called Ventura, playing water polo and swimming on my high school team. I spent my weekends at the beach and skateboarding around town. I had everything I needed, free to roam completely content in my environment. My biggest insecurity was which hand-made skirt I’d wear to school for swim meet day, the day everyone on the team dressed up. Now that […] Read More

Story time is a favorite activity at our house. We have so many wonderful books to choose from it’s hard to know what to pick. I wanted to share a list of books I really love to read with the kids. Some are all-time favorites, some celebrate diversity and others are just a darn good story. If you have little ones in your home, I hope this list is useful and you […] Read More

My daughter had an assignment to dress a paper bear up in fancy clothes and bring it back to school the next day because they had been reading the book Going on A Bear Hunt. I dropped her off for school with her completed pirate-princess-bear. She’s my oldest and the first to go to school in our family. I am always curious about what they do all day. At pick […] Read More
